THE BLOCH BROTHERS STORY
Bloch Brothers is a family owned and operated corporation with its national corporate and accounting offices located in a small community outside of Detroit, Michigan.
When the founder, Harry Bloch came to the United States in 1890, one of the first things he wanted to do was "own a piece of America". He wanted to buy land. With a love of the land plus knowledge of how important owning land was for the future, Harry, with his younger brother Nathan, purchased their first parcel of land in 1893. This land was cedar swamp in Minocqua, Wisconsin. They then worked the land and processed the cedar to make wood shingles. Harry Bloch taught his seven children "If you buy land and keep it, the land will keep you."
A. Howard Bloch, Harry's youngest son, was president of Bloch Brothers Corporation through 1990. The "Love of the Land" that Howard inherited from his father and Uncle, was passed on to his children and then to his grandchildren, who now run the company. The average life span of a family-owned business is 24 years (familybusinesscenter.com, 2010). About 40% of U.S. family-owned businesses turn into second-generation businesses, approximately 13% are passed down successfully to a third generation, and 3% to a forth or beyond (Businessweek.com, 2010).We are now in our FOURTH generation of Bloch family ownership. We have over 100 years of experience selling the "Best Buy on Earth - Earth!".
Most often, when people purchase land, they do so through an outside real estate agency. Usually the agency is acting for a third party, the property owner. When you purchase from Bloch Brothers you are dealing directly with the owners. *
The usual procedure Bloch Brothers Corporation follows is to:
1. Obtain property in large parcels after carefully studying the potential.
2. Do a detailed study of the best use for each property.
3. Analyze the development, property and marketing costs as opposed to selling price in order to assure our customers the "Best Value."
4. Proceed with engineering, surveying, developing, etc.
5. Place the property on the market.
Bloch Brothers will sometimes purchase properties that someone else has developed - then they proceed with their normal studies, etc., and make the necessary changes to bring the property to their standards. Since Bloch Brothers' years of experience enables them to eliminate the middleman, the savings can be passed on to the purchaser.
